Transitional Kindergarten







Social Emotional Development

Purpose:
To implement a relationship-based community model of classroom
management based on strong communication between children and peers and
children and adults.

Philosophy:
Learn with the Best utilizes a classroom management system based on
Conscious Discipline, a brain based research program created by Dr. Becky
Bailey.

This program was developed in 2005 and is “a social-emotional program that
focuses on creating ‘school families’ where children and teachers can have
joy, helpfulness, and caring as a foundation for the educational process.

Research conducted in schools using this program shows that implementing
the principles of Conscious Discipline decreases aggression and
impulsivity/hyperactivity in ‘difficult’ children while promoting academic
progress, staff collegiality, and a positive school environment.”   

We will be using the S.T.A.R. (Stop/Smile, Take a deep breath, And, Relax)
philosophy to teach our children these skills.
