Cary Social Skills Groups

Learn with the Best currently offers five language based social skills groups for children with disabilities. We have designed our groups to help children succeed on the social front, and our results have been incredible.

We serve children from Apex, Raleigh, Holly Springs, and surrounding areas.

PALS - Social Skills Groups

For Ages 3-5

Children attend group sessions every Thursday evening from 5:00 - 6:00 pm.

Our weekly Preschool PALS group will be focusing on social skills and peer interaction. We use hands-on activities and visual support to promote learning and communication through songs, stories, games, and crafts.

Preschool PALS activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Circle Time with “Who's Here” introductions
  • Picking and singing songs either independently or assisted
  • Group dance activities
  • Calendar time
  • Facilitated Social / Play Time

Our instructor, Rebecca, graduated from SUNY Cortland with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in the Psychology of the Exceptional Child. In 2004, she began teaching a Pre-Kindergarten self-contained class for children with autism.

PALS I - Boys and Girls, Grades K - 2nd (flexible)

Our School Age PALS programs are pragmatic language based groups for children with disabilities.The Co-Ed group meets on Tuesdays from 5:00 - 6:00 pm.

These groups target areas related to:

  • Interpreting and responding appropriately in social situations
  • Making new friends
  • Sustaining peer relations
The Getting to Know You social skills curriculum (Educational Media Corporation, copyright 1998) will be used as a guide for sessions.

Our instructor, Cindy, is an ASHA Certified speech-language pathologist in the Wake County Public Schools. She holds a Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology and has worked with children with autism and other disabilities for over 7 years.

PALS II - Boys, Grades 3rd - 5th

Our School Age PALS programs are pragmatic language based groups for children with disabilities. The Boys group meets on Tuesdays from 6:30 - 7:30 pm.

These groups target areas related to:

  • Interpreting and responding appropriately in social situations
  • Making new friends
  • Sustaining peer relations
